| That 1980s hit from the iconic band "The Clash" inspired Tomoari Matsumura
to conceive Casva, the brand that captures the essence of ear-pierced
youth with oilslicks for hair while blending in its own takes on American
casual and punk basic. The Nagasaki-born designer worked for the likes
of Issey Miyake and others before he and similarly "rock-minded" folks
decided to try something new. Mixing rhinestones and leather and pairing
popular denims with something a little more adult, Matsumura's vision
has been running strong for two years, collaborating with fashion fraternity
such as Junk Food and Diabro. Recent days have seen Casva flying off shelves in Shizuoka's Ichi Maru Kyuu, and he and his biker-loving cohorts are planning to release their Fall and Winter collection, Dark Side Illumination. Showing the same aspirations that gave birth to the brand, the collection takes it up a notch with signature prints and bold colors. Logo tees are slinky and sensual. Ensembles that would be commonplace in today's Aniki/Aneki trend are spruced up with sizzling material choices-any bikers you know wear satin? Or fur? Casva's new collection is just as playful with theme as the ones before it, giving its followers (and new converts) a delightful foray into "luxury meets military" style. |
