Perhaps, most "artists" feel that others share their view of the world, but sometimes they feel limited to express themselves creatively. It's not that most Japanese people aren't interested in the arts, but at times Japanese society has little room in their busy lives to seriously look at the artistic world. In Japan, people are not always granted to pursue their artistic interests. Artistic world is usually a forced concession with the industrial world. Here is a photographer who is passing between two such worlds-MARESUKE. Maresuke is interested in fashion and beauty industries and has been an assistant photographer for two years. With experience in print he has also held exhibitions a photo@collection. He explained to us why photographs are his means to communicate artistically. For him photography is a way to capture the daily suffering people go through in the lives,@this is something that he feels he could not put into words. "I'm influenced by the way photography allows me to see things from a different perspective, but I'm still able to stand firm and keep to my beliefs." "My priority is beauty, for example even though something is sinful, it still has beauty. This is something I deeply believe in. I am not distracted by reality and I feel this sense is reflected through my photographs. I'm not interested in conforming to the conventions of space, color, structure and meaning in reality, which reflects my views against system, authority and common sense." He said, "I don't take photos of subjects that are realistic in content and color." But he does love realistic situations or use of color. He moves in and out of reality, virtual color and two-dimensional world feed his ideas. He memorizes numbers or words by the color. He also imagines the color when looking at the subject. "I'll try to live up to expectations for a while but please let me portray fragile beauty. This is what I strongly believe in." About the "beauty"- "Photography is a medium to express my own beauty, not a means to mirror reality. When photographing, I might be arrogant enough to think that there is a reality. So I actually hope that my photographs are seen as a feeling rather than logical thought. I want to create the idea of beauty. " "My basis of feeling beauty might be a sense of being alive on the verge of dying. I feel drawn to the light, tiny star's sparkling or tired beautiful eyes. At times I want to express subjects that have no real substance, such as wind, water or fire." Finally, why "photographs"? Essentially, I'm not cut off from self-consciousness, but I can go into a trance whilst taking photos. I think photography suits me as means for communication and expression.
