I needed a decade to realize such a thing.

Staying there because alone is lonely.
Moreover, I wanted to stay the same without any change.
I waved goodbye to the very last someone.
And usually I felt
Everyone has gone.

Nobody can stay in the past.
However, sooner or later they are sublimed into beauty by something like love.
I thought I was the only one who thinks in such a way.

Since his first collection, designer Takayuki Suzuki's collections have comprised solely of original non mass-produced pieces. For his 2002 FW collection, the designer continued to showcase his work across the globe whilst expanding his efforts in Japan. Recently, he broadened his creative output by implementing order made clothes and a wedding dress line into his works.

In a word, like one's regular self, atmosphere is a relaxing life.
Takayuki Suzuki's name was mentioned frequently during 2008.
Currently, he is in the process of producing a collection for men centering on high quality workwear and based on the concept "passage of time".

There are different meanings to each concept.
Actually, this is the reason why each line is marked by a different name.

Suzuki Takayuki = collection line
Ikkuna/ Suzuki Takayuki = daily wear specializing in organic material.
Toha = line for special projects and collaborations

Supposedly divided lines, there are lots of unworks brand.
Unfortunately, we know unworks well brands by imitating big brand's strategy

Q: Among many young Japanese brands, Takayuki Suzuki seems to have achieved a successful career. Each line of the brand is under control and well managed whereas such factors usually pose problems for young brands. How have you achieved your success?

A: Since I divide lines clearly and differentiate the brand's originality, it is much easier for me to express my view.

Q: Is there anything that you struggle with?

A: Not particularly.
It is unexpectedly difficult to express yourself.
Firstly, can you clearly distinguish a concept you want without bias. Furthermore, can you step out to the next stage without complacence. Finally, the reality is like antilogy in that impossible to be completed by oneself.
According to the circumstances, it is almost impossible.

Q: What is the underlying philosophy?

A: Subject of Happiness = live well.

The trigger to become a designer was an exhibition I opened with a friend.

Each collections of Takayuki Suzuki involve concepts of:
Beauty of time.
Decaying beauty.
Beauty of changing.
And the beauty in the process of making

There is the axis of time with beauty-

As expressed by Suzuki Takayuki,
Feature = material.
Difference from others = a sense of balance.

Consistently the brand reveals the beauty yielded by time, and a feeling of balance.
Because it seems prepared necessity materials to change the stuff, that situated on the further side of the time, to the beauty.
I feel engaged to the principal vision of Suzuki Takayuki himself.

Q: What do you think of the latest in Japanese fashion? For instance, the genre has subdivided greatly compared to the past.

A: I think not only clothes but also the whole lifestyle of designing has subdivided.

Q: What is the vision of Takayuki Suzuki?
A: It is to open flagship stores in Japan and foreign countries.

Q: What would you be if you didn't pursue a designing career?

A: I think I would still be engaged in creative works somehow.

Q: What does the word fashion mean to Takayuki Suzuki?

A: It means collective opinions of mine through the periods of time.

Q: What are the things that motivate you lately?

A: It is relations with the society through designing works.

A person walking is like a repetition of the present.
The track is like a string.
It is totally up to oneself to turn back or keep going.
However, the people who can believe, rather than has confidence, are surprisingly few in today's Japan.
I feel there are many people pushed aside to the other side of time.

It is that ability to continue social activities even when looking directly into the transience of time.
This is the significant talent of Takayuki Suzuki that I felt.
It is never being buried by time, the essential is on his side.

In addition, he has no conflict or stress about his output as an artist.
Although this may be a realm of tacit knowledge, it equates to success.

Time and beauty, perhaps this is dualism.
I can't take my eyes off how Takayuki Suzuki creates this kind of dualism by developing new time and integrating beauty.
