![]() The non-profit group is called "Echoes of Chicago". Echoes of Chicago works with community and the arts. Their mission is to help unite people through the language of art. They work with local underground artists and help provide forums for their work, and organize gallery shows for artists, although that don't always have the connections to get into art galleries. Echoes of Chicago believes that every kind of artist deserves to have the chance for his/her work to be seen. They don't draw borders between styles or genres of art. At their last gallery we had live music, live art (painting), break dancing, paintings, sculpture, clothing, jewelry, and a sushi chef. They try to push the borders of what people think of as art. Above and beyond that, Echoes of Chicago believes in giving back to the community, and volunteers their services for community murals, and working with groups that don't have access to forms of expression ( such as people in prison). Right now, they raise all of our own money for projects. One of the ways they raise money is selling hand painted hats- This gives a chance for people that can't afford to spend $500+ dollars on a canvas to own a piece of original art. Each is a unique creation donated to us by local artists that volunteer to paint them. All of their profits go to further projects to support the arts. They also do custom work if requested. As the popularity of their hats has increased, they have been looking for stores that would be interested in selling their hats. |
